Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Tommy, one of our valued clients, to hear his story and share his experiences with Affinity Plus Home Support. Tommy, who experienced a stroke last year, wanted to speak openly about his journey, raise awareness about stroke recovery, and highlight the impact compassionate home care can have on everyday life.
A Journey of Recovery
Tommy shared how life changed dramatically after his stroke. “I never thought something like this could happen to me,” he said. “Simple tasks I used to take for granted became challenges, and I needed support to regain my independence.”
He explained how the team at Affinity Plus became a crucial part of his recovery. “The care assistants here aren’t just doing a job — they really care. From helping me with my daily routines to keeping me motivated, they’ve made all the difference.”
Raising Awareness About Strokes
During our chat, Tommy also wanted to share advice with others. He emphasized the importance of recognising the signs of a stroke — sudden weakness, trouble speaking, or facial drooping — and seeking immediate medical attention. “The faster you act, the better your chances of recovery,” he said.
Support That Goes Beyond Care
Tommy spoke warmly about his interactions with Shauna and the rest of our team. “Shauna sits with me, chats, and helps me with exercises that keep me moving. She’s more than a care assistant — she’s a friend.”
He noted that having consistent support not only helps with physical recovery but also improves mental wellbeing. “After a stroke, it’s easy to feel isolated or frustrated. The staff at Affinity Plus make sure I’m not just surviving, but actually enjoying life again.”
Why Tommy Recommends Affinity Plus
When asked why he recommends our services, Tommy smiled and said: “If you want care that’s personal, professional, and full of heart, Affinity Plus is the place. The team listens, supports, and treats you like family.”
Final Thoughts
Tommy’s story reminds us that recovery is more than just physical healing — it’s about connection, compassion, and support every step of the way. At Affinity Plus Home Support, we’re proud to provide care that empowers our clients to live safely, comfortably, and independently at home.
